It’s that time again! This past Friday the official 2021 Shetland Wool Week knitting pattern ‘Da Crofter’s Kep’ was released. It was exclusively designed by the patron for two years running, Wilma Malcolmson.
You can get your copy HERE.
Last year’s Katie’s Kep was a huge success, and I’d say that Wilma has knocked another one out of the park with this design.
Below is a short video from Shetland Amenity Trust with Wilma about Da Crofter’s Kep.
You’ll see this note from the Shetland Wool Week team on their website.
“We are asking this year if you might be willing to make a voluntary donation in support of the event. Shetland Wool Week is run by a small charity, the Shetland Amenity Trust, and like so many others we are facing challenging and uncertain times. Any support – large or small – is gratefully received and will help us to secure the future of an event which is so important to Shetland and its visitors.”
For several years now the SWW team has offered a hat pattern for free. Consider what you usually pay for a beautiful well-written fair isle pattern and maybe, if you are able, make a donation.
Wilma designed then sampled Da Crofter’s Kep in five colorway options. I don’t know about all of you, but I’m having a hard time deciding which one to knit, or maybe which one to knit first? I spent much of Friday in the studio here on the farm pulling shades to put together yarn packs for our customers. Note that of the five colorway options, Wilma specified five different yarn companies from Shetland. I’ve done my best to chose comparable shades of the other yarn brands using Jamieson & Smith for our yarn packs. I hope you find one you like, but it’s also fun to choose your own shades.

Happy knitting,
Denise~
