Plötulopi, the original unspun Icelandic wool, is made from the soft and insulating inner fiber and the long, glossy and water repellent outer fibers of Icelandic sheep. The fiber, sourced from directly from Icelandic farmers, creates a lofty wool yarn that is breathable and ideal for soft lightweight garments. It’s not hard to work with — Icelandic kids learn on it, after all — but it calls for a gentle hand while you get used to working without twist.
300m / 328 yd / 100g plates, as they’re called. You might also have seen these referred to as wheels or cakes – or simply “a favorite” yarn.
